Who spilt my beer??

okay, guess we can agree on the fact that i haven't written here for a while. let's try sum up the past few weeks.

i left washington dc and went to los angeles. la i big. bigger than i ever could imagine. i settled down in inglewood. bad idea. creepy neighborhood. police told me not to walk alone outside even during daytime, haha! i traveled around the city for a couple of days, witch was actually kind of boring. at least without a car. public transit is not very well designed, and it took forever. anyway: hollywood: thumbs down. nothing more than a hell lot of tourists. crowded. sunset strip was nicer. but whiskey a go-go was closed at the time i was there. that kinda sucked, 'cause i really wanted to grab a shot of jack and a beer at that place. oh well. i guess i'll return one day. when i was in town, i hooked up with my friends brother, and stayed at his place a couple of days. he lived in santa monica, witch is a nice part of the town. also close to venice beach, a nice place for sure! i hiked with the guys i lived with up to bay area a few days later.

bay area rocks! i spent the first couple of days at my friends apartment in berkley, before his warehouse was ready to move into. he and two other guys have rented a warehouse in east oakland, the warzone of the west coast, haha. great place. we're renovating it into a club for gigs, art shows etc. turning up quite nice! we went to las vegas here a couple of weeks ago. after having a few of them drinks named FOUR LOKO. they should use that in an ad. "wanna wake up in vegas? FOUR LOKO!" that was pretty much the story. won some $$ at one of the casinos, and the whole journey broke even. sweet! that city is CHEAP by the way. guess they have a politic that is somewhat close to "the more you drink, the more you gamble. more money for us" on the way back we drove through death valley, the second hottest place on the face of the earth. this seems to be true.

have to go, will write more later! later!

after the.. rush?

I didn't have any internet connection the last days, but i actually wrote for hand, so here comes what i wrote for hand the last days.

day 8:
i spent the day walking around in Philadelphia. Cozy town, but not that big really. well, at least -downtown- isn't that big. the entire city is one of the biggest in america. the evening was spent on a pub-to-pub circuit around in the northern part of town. we made it through 5 pubs before closing time. witch means 2am in philly.

day 9:
went down to baltimore with greyhound. took about 2 and a half hour. baltimore is hot! felt like a punch in the face when i stepped out of the bus. thought philly was hot, but dude! but what can you do? there was a pre-fest party in town (at the same venua, in fact), so i went there. in basic, it felt like going out in oslo, haha. there were a few "new" faces there, but also so many people i know. cool! anyway, had a great night. lots of fun. priscila wore a nice t-shirt!! after the efst, me and a couple of others had a small after-party at my room. good times. this town is crazy! cracked out people, people with guns in their pockets, cockroaches all over etc. i like it here so far for some reason, even though i do not feel safe at all. just woke up, it's 2pm. going out to meet some friends for food and coffee. then some tourist acts.

day 10:
well, no tourist acts. we went to a bar called max's on broadway for breakfast. and some beers. they have over 800 beers to choose from! impressive.. tried a few different ones. including raspberry-beer and chocolate-beer. hmm.. they had 102 beers on tap. not bad prices, and the food was awesome. yeah! off to the festival after. think i only saw watain and coffins. can't really remember. so many shows going on when there is a festival, and i really like to hang out with people instead at stand put in front of all the bands all the times.

For some reason, my cell doesn't work properly. only a few of all the text messages i send goes through. and i don't receive all that are sent to me either.

the sound on the festival is so far horrible. especially on watain. it ruined their show. literally. pity.

day 11:
had some indian food for breakfast with a friend. bad idea. food poisoning next. fuck! oh, it's illegal to swear within the city limits in maryland. don't tell the cops i did! first band today was obliteration. awesome show! tight, good sound. win. then we went back to max's on broadway again. i'm all out at cigarettes at tis sime, and i really want one. FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUU!!!! anyway, we went over to max's. wasn't really hungry, so i ordered a plate of nachos for a snack. it was the largest fucking plate of nachos i ever saw. damn! worst thing though, with only a little help from my friends, i finished the whole monster. stuffed! back to the festival to see repulsion. great band! great gig! an hour later, autopsy went on stage. win!

almost forgot, we did also see sadistic intent and possessed. totally OK day!

day 12:
new day, new breakfafst. no indian food this time. i feel much better now. we all gathered at a place downtown called the waterstreet tavern. great food, great cocktails. spent the day there before we went down to the festival. 30 bucks! cheap! all right, down to the festival. saw N2002, not my style. then pentagram. dude! win! surrender! also saw obituary and some other bands. hang out in the festival area until the bitter end, then we bought some beers and headed back to my hotel. good times. it's almost 3pm now, so better go out to catch some breakfast. and cigarettes. the room-cleaners haven't showed up yet, guess they respect the fact that 4 days of festival is a bit exhausting. great!

all over baltimore there are small blue lights attached to light poles, street lights and so on. when they are lit, they flicker for 2 weeks, and this means that somebody was either killed, raped or brutally mugged at that location. i saw to of them. also, a lot of the baltimore map is all grey areas, and in these areas there are no street names. simply because you should not go there. it's not safe. charming, huh?

wait a minute. there are fresh towels in he bathroom! guess i slept too hard..

it's memorial day today, so i think everything is closed. hmm.. where to get food. maybe the left-winged bookstore/coffeehouse across the street can help me out.

day 13:
tried to find a cheap way to go to canada, where i have some family, but couldn't find any. i ended up booking a flight to los angeles on friday instead. got a great price. the plane leaves from washington dc, where i happend to have a friend. so i went to his place in the afternoon. then we had a walk around in his part of town, and also a few beers. went home and to bed early.

my friend is working at this time, and i am writing all of this. when he's done, we're going to find a place to buy some cheap shoes, 'cause mine are all worn out at the moment. after that, dinner, beers, the good the bad and the ugly followed by heading to a bar. at leat this is the plan so far. see ya!

leaving new york - entering philadelphia

i'm too hungover now to care taking the time wrinting this both in norwegian and english, so here it goes..

day 5:
tired of strolling the streets of manhattan, i bought dantes' inferno so that i could sit down in central park reading. unfortunately, i ran into this jew-festival, so i had to walk a looong way to cross the street and enter the park. fuck! well, i finally found a spot and sat down reading. and eating. and smoking. good times. the inferno is quite a hard book to read though. advanced language. tried to find some tickets later on to a stand-up show a couple of friends were going to, but i couldn't find the seller. met them anyway later, and also another friend from norway came. so we spent the evening drinking at this irish-style pub called jameson pub or something.

day 6:
bought a ticket for philadelphia, then spent the day sitting in manhattan reading while i was waiting for the bus. a guy wanted to give me $5000 so that i could give them to whoever needed them. homeless and so on. but then he wanted my money wrapped together with his, while saying a prayer for the homeless and poor. long story short, didn't took me long to figure out what he was really after. oh, he didn't get my money by the way. took the greyhound to philly and hooked up with this couchsurfer dude. we went to a couple of bars, and dude, this town rocks!

day 7: exhausted as i was, i slept through the whole day. nice. when eric (the couchsurfer) got back from work, he brought a bottle of premium american bourbon. 45% alcohol.. shit. we emptied the bottle and went to a mexican restaurant for some nachos and cocktails. pretty much all there is to write 'bout this day.

oh! eric lives next door to the basketball course where the intro of fresh prince of bel-air is recorded. win!

philly is so much cheaper than manhattan. a beer here would be like $1,5 or $2, insted of $5. go figure. well, time to explore the streets of philadelphia..

forresten

there might be a few typing errors throughout this blog, dut I DON'T CARE.

day 3:
first thing this morning is getting an us number. cheked the rates with my norwegian number last night, and i took about 0.2 seconds to decide to get an american number. the process took about 2 hours, 'cause the operators at t-mobile were fucking retards. but an angry and very kind radio shack manager finally got it all done. i also bought a cheap ass nokia for $20. not too bad i think. i spent the next few hours strolling down the west side of manhattan. alongside huston river and all the way down to the very south end. after that i hooked up with a couchsurfer and 2 more couchsurfers, and we spent some time at a bar. turned out to be a gay bar, but we didn't care. mohjitos were $3,5. the couchsurfer then brought me to a pub in his neighborhood in brooklyn. awesomeness! cheap beer. strong beer. local beer. awesome beer. we went to a rooftop party later on, and it was fucking awesome. the weather was supreme by the way. f92 or something (c32). used sunblock and deo all the time.

day 4:
went down to little italy to find out it sucks big time. i had planned some good shit italian food, but ended up eating at this mexican take away joint. in fucking little italy! there are absolutely nothing in this part of town. shit. just spoiled water all over this desk. anyway, i walked from little italy and up to west village. a really nice part of new york. there are this small houses and cozy streets. doesn't look like the rest at manhattan at all. i spent some time walking up and down the streets. not that it's so fucking beautiful, but i was looking for this place, and it was a bit hard to find.

by the way! the coke here is totally different in taste from back home. not better or worse, just different. but the cans are bigger and the price is above half compared to norway, so it's ok. the cash-machine on this internet is fucked up. i have got hundreds of dollars left.. wish there had been some kind of cash-back.

i know a guy that works at a pub in town. maybe go there to catch a few free beers? hmm..

dag 1 og 2 - new york, manhattan

Allright!

her kommer dag 2:

-alle i new york jogger.
-utrykningskjoeretoeyene i new york har rare sirenelyder.
-maten her smaker sinnsykt digg.

update! now in english! WOW!

All right! after struggling with the feds a couple of hour, i finally got entrance to the us. the agent was convinced for some reason that i would stay in the country as an illegal immigrant. so, first thing to do in new york? spend a long fucking time getting to the hotel. after check-in, i sat down in central park for half an hour or so, had 2 pints of guinness at some place, and then went to bed. this was day 1 of my stay in america.

day 2:
i walked through central park. the whole damn thing. let's just say this: the fucker is huge! spent a couple of hours on the thing. and it's fucking beautiful. my favorite spot in new york would be central park. after i was finished with central park for this time, i found a new hostel down in chelsea area. i spent the rest of the day strolling the streets of manhattan, witch are HUGE. but i don't find it too fancy. i actually think it's quite boring there. i feel the only thing to do is eat eat eat. and i don't have the kind of money to spend on musicals and shit anyway.

so far i have learned this:
-everyone in ny are jogging.
-everyone in new york owns at least one dog, if not more. or they have a kid. but not more than one.
-the cops can't wait giving away tickets and fines. they are standing everywhere with their little book of fines, and gives them to everyone.
-emergency vehicles in this town makes strange noises.
-it's hard to find a couchsurfer within hours in ny.
-the food is fucking brilliant.
-there aren't that many fat people here as you would think. i have seen around 3 so far.
